What is an OFX file?
OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is the format most banks use when you "download transactions" for Money, Quicken, or accounting software. An OFX file is plain text, but it wraps each transaction in tags rather than columns, so a spreadsheet won't open it cleanly. This tool reads those tags and lays your transactions out as an ordinary CSV.
How to convert OFX to CSV
- Download the .OFX file from your bank (usually under "Download activity" or "Export", choosing the Quicken/Money/OFX option).
- Click Choose an OFX file above and select it (or drag it in).
- Your transactions appear as a table. Click a column chip to leave a field out, drag to reorder, or double-click to rename.
- Download the table as CSV — or, if the file held several accounts, grab them all as a .zip.
Does this work for QFX and QBO files too?
Yes. QFX (Quicken) and QBO (QuickBooks) files are OFX under the hood — the same tags with a bank-specific header — so this converter reads all three. There are dedicated QFX to CSV and QBO to CSV pages if that's what you searched for.
Are dates and amounts changed?
No. Fields are kept exactly as your bank wrote them, so amounts stay signed (a debit like
-20.00 stays negative) and dates keep OFX's YYYYMMDD form. Nothing
is rounded, reformatted, or dropped — what you download is a faithful copy of the file's data.
Is my data safe?
Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — your file is never sent to a server, so nothing about your accounts leaves your computer. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.
